Kuwait cognisant of right of countries to use nuclear energy for peaceful purposes

Kuwait reiterated on Thursday its stance that all countries have the right to produce and use nuclear energy for peaceful purposes within the framework of the NPT agreement which enables the IAEA to conduct its monitoring duties in all member countries of that organization, said a Kuwaiti official here in a speech before the IAEA board of trustees.
The reiteration was posited by Kuwait's permanent member to international organizations in Vienna Yaseen Al-Majed at a discussion of some of the articles regarding the working of a nuclear agreement being hammered out between Iran and the IAEA.
Al-Majed welcomed in his speech the existing cooperation currently being witnessed in the talks between the IAEA and Iran to reach an agreement, noting that Kuwait, exercising its neutral role, and in response to IAEA appeal to obtain 5.5 million euro to support its monitoring duties, has donated the sum of 250,000 euro for that purpose.
He said that Kuwait was eagerly following the talks of the group of 5+1 with Iran, hoping that these talks would result in a comprehensive agreement regarding the Iranian nuclear file.
He affirmed in the conclusion of his speech Kuwait's readiness at all times to support the work of the IAEA in promoting the peaceful use of nuclear energy
