Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW)

The State of Kuwait has re-affirmed its full commitment to the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) and its abidance by the relevant Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC).
In a statement to KUNA after a Kuwaiti delegation took part in the 19th session of the CWC signatory states, held in the Hague, the chief envoy, Ali Salem Al-Thaidi, indicated that the delegation re-affirmed the state full support for the organization and adherence to all provision of the convention, seeking to implement them at the national and international levels.
The conference which grouped delegations and representatives of 132 states adopted a number of resolutions related to demolishing hazardous chemicals. They also tackled various bureaucratic issues, such as adopting the 2015 budget and plans for harnessing chemical substances and materials for peaceful purposes.
Conferees during the debates expressed satisfaction at disposal of Syria's arsenal of chemicals arms and agents.
The Kuwaiti team held sideline meetings with the organization affiliated agencies, discussing information provided by Kuwait in the field and prospects of its hosting of a regional workshop.
