A senior Kuwaiti official on Sunday commended the UAE's Barakah Nuclear Energy Plant. Mahmoud Bu Shehri, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Electricity and Water, visited the Barakah Nuclear Energy Plant as part of a team from the International Atomic Energy Agency, IAEA.
Speaking to Kuwait News Agency, KUNA, Bu Shehri said that Barakah was one of the key nuclear projects, saying that it would provide safe and clean energy. The project will be home to four nuclear reactors by 2020.
Bu Shehri said the team got acquainted with the construction of the four nuclear reactors, with their state-of-the-art technology, on which progress has reached 84 percent. He said the reactors would help eliminate 21 million tonnes of carbon emissions.
Barakah Nuclear Energy Plant's four nuclear reactors will supply up to 25 percent of the UAE's electricity needs.
