The Yemeni-Kuwaiti technical committee for oil and minerals' affairs is scheduled to begin meetings in Kuwait on Monday for examining prospects of expanding mutual cooperation in various fields particularly energy.
The Yemeni undersecretary of oil and minerals, Shawki Al-Mekhlafi, who flew to Kuwait on eve of the scheduled talks, said in a statement that the Yemeni-Kuwaiti discussions aim at boosting the bilateral relations between the two counties and paving the way for establishing a "strategic relationship and genuine partnership." The scheduled talks also aim at enhancing coordination with respect of international investments in the oil and minerals' sectors, he added.
Al-Mekhlafi said he and his accompanying delegation would brief the Kuwaiti side during the meeting about investment opportunities in his country, particularly in the petroleum and minerals' fields. The Yemeni officials will also seek to boost the partnership between Kuwait and Yemen in various domains, he added.
Kuwait maintains close ties with Yemen, which is represented in the GCC in some sub-committees.
