Nuclear Integrated Field Exercise

The 2014 Integrated Field Exercise (IFE14) conducted by the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization (CTBTO) to simulate an almost entire on-site inspection (OSI) in the Dead Sea started here on Saturday.
The CTBTO conducts the OSI through a global management system based on more than 300 monitoring stations across the world working under multiple monitoring techniques including seismic measurement used to detect shock waves on the Earth.
In the opening ceremony, the CTBTO's Executive Secretary Lassina Zerbo expressed his gratitude to the Jordanian government for its support in hosting the exercise, saying that the exercise forms a deterrence to those who want to conduct nuclear experiments.
In a press statement on the sidelines of the ceremony, Jordan's Minister of Energy Mohamad Hamed said that the location was chosen according to the area's geographical nature.
He underlined the importance of performing such exercise which comes in the framework of international efforts to disarmament of weapons of mass destruction.
