Petroleum Minister Sherif Ismail Tuesday visited the Suez Canal Authority and listened to an explanation by SCA chairman Mohab Mamish on the different phases of the New Suez Canal project.
Mamish talked about the importance of the project meant to give the national economy a shot in the arm by turning Egypt into a world trade hub.
Mamish also stressed the importance of energy supply in implementing the project.
Ismail said the project paves the way for a new stage of economic development in Egypt.
He said Petrojet, a petroleum sector company, is contributing to the digging operations.
