The Petroleum Ministry denied rumors that the prices of gasoline and diesel fuel will rise at gas stations with the enforcement of the new fuel smart card, expected on June 15.

The rumors had prompted many consumers to frequently refill their vehicle tanks, draining up fuel supplies at gas stations in a shorter period, ministry undersecretary Sherif Sosa said.

A 21% increase in gas amounts was pumped into gas stations yesterday as well as a 7% in diesel fuel, he said.
