AJK Prime Minister Raja Farooq Haider Khan had directed the State Power Development Organization (PDO) to focus for in time completion of its development projects to make AJK self-reliant and self-supported in power generation.
Addressing a high level meeting of the Power Development Organization (PDO) at Kashmir House on Tuesday, Farooq Haider urged PDO to avoid unnecessary expenditures and ensure discipline to achieve desirable results. “AJK is a small region which is blessed with enormous natural resources. If these resources are appropriately exploited and honesty exercised by government employees, the region could be turned into a prosperous one” he said.
The Prime Minister emphasized PDO to work in an organized way on long term policy to meet power needs of the State. He said tunnel technology was hazardous for environment hence we should resort to alternative ways and focus on generating power on running water mechanism.
The PDO meeting also reviewed the performance of Hydro Electric Board. It also gave approval of tariff of Jhagran Phase-I. The meeting decided to follow the rules and regulations of Services and General Administration for appointments and promotions in Hydro Electric Board. The meeting abolished the tender of Kharian and Tarberi projects.
The Prime Minister, while expressing his displeasure over continued delay of Betaar power project, directed the concerned authorities to ensure timely completion of this project. The meeting further decided to complete the groundwork of three more power projects for their inauguration. The Prime Minister of AJK told the meeting that no delay would be tolerated in completion of all hydropower projects in the State.
AJK Chief Secretary, Additional Chief Secretary Development, Secretary Finance, Secretary Power Development Organization, Managing Director PDO and representative of Public Private Investment Bureau Government of Pakistan attended the meeting.
Meanwhile according to an official handout issued by AJK Government, the AJK Prime Minister Raja Farooq Haider Khan attended the meeting of National Counter Terrorism Authority in Islamabad on Tuesday which was chaired by Prime Minister of Pakistan Mr. Imran Khan. Chief Ministers of all the four provinces and Gilgit Baltistan attended the meeting.
