Unidentified people set fire to a power transformer in Mahalla Kubra city of Gharbiya.
The fire spread to nearby shacks, and led to the fall of the electricity cables and an power cut in the new el-Hawamdiya village.
Two fire engines managed to contain the fire.
The prosecution was notified to launch a probe.
