The UAE has participated in the third Forum of the Global Network for Sustainable Cities, organised by the Department of Energy and Climate Change in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in collaboration with Masdar and the French Government in Paris, Nantes and Montpellier.
The UAE's participation with a large delegation representing the relevant sectors' legislative and regulatory bodies of municipalities and those in the energy sector, aims to highlight the success of national stories in the field of sustainable solutions for cities, as well as benefit from the French experience in the development of mechanisms and methodologies for the design of policy and technical applications in French cities.
The conference witnessed the participation of more than 90 specialised experts from the UAE, France, Sweden, Finland and the support of the French Ministry of the Environment and Sustainable Development and Energy, Environment Agency and Energy Management, and the French Senate.
The UAE, Sweden, Finland and France expressed their intention to continue working on cooperation and exchange of experiences in the field of sustainable cities.
Ali Al Shafar, Deputy Director of the Department of Energy Affairs and Climate Change, said that over 50 experts from various bodies of the country were involved in the talks with the French side on many issues submitted for discussion as well as cooperation opportunities and lessons learned from the success stories of different experiences.
He pointed out that the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs is looking forward to seizing the opportunities to exchange expertise and experiences and that this visit is one of those opportunities from which it can benefit.
