Representatives of the European Union (EU) will discuss with Russia and Ukraine the political solutions to Ukraine crisis and continuation of trilateral energy talks in Minsk on Tuesday, the bloc said in a statement on Monday.
The EU foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton, Vice-President Gunther Oettinger who is responsible for energy, and Commissioner for Trade Karel de Gucht will represent the EU at the Customs Union-Ukraine Summit.
The trilateral meetings will discuss the political and security situations in Ukraine, and will continue the discussions on the implementation of the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement, the statement said.
Meanwhile, the three sides will discuss whether to resume the energy talks in September.
The EU and Russia have imposed sanctions on each other over the ongoing unrest in eastern Ukraine. The latest sanction from Russia involves a one-year ban on imports of several food items and diary products from the EU.
There are fears sanctions could extend to other important areas such as energy supply.
