Cairo - MENA
The work on the first stage of the fourth line of the Cairo Underground Metro will kick off at the beginning of 2015, the National Authority for Tunnels (NAT) has said.
NAT said the fourth line would extend 19 kilometers with 17 stops linking 6th October City through Hadayek el-Ahram district, the Grand Egyptian Museum, Remaya Square, and Haram Street, intersecting with the Metro's second line in Giza station, and the first line in el-Malek el-Saleh station.
The new line will link provinces of Cairo and Giza in addition to 6th October City, NAT added.
The project's studies almost completed and recommended the project to be carried out in two tunnels for each direction instead of one tunnel because of the geographical and residential natures of this area, NAT pointed out.
It said this stage would cost 1.2 billion dollars.
