Nokia has announced its first two smartphones running on the Windows Phone 8 platform unveiling them at a launch event in New York Wednesday. The struggling company is counting on features like wireless charging and \"true offline\" navigation capabilities to attract new users to Nokia phones and the Windows platform, ZDNet reported. The flagship Lumia 920 phone has a 4.5-inch TrueBlack display and dual-core Qualcomm S4 Snapdragon processor, and includes a curved glass display rather than the flat screen on the previous Lumia 900. \"We\'ve taken several steps in the last 18 months and today we\'re ready to take the next step,\" Jo Harlow, executive vice president of smart devices at Nokia, said. \"The Lumia 920 is a smartphone experience so immersive that you\'ll never want to put it down.\" For navigation the 902 has offline maps and includes capabilities such as offering walking directions between public transport locations. Battery life is always an issue with high-end smartphones and the Lumio 920 comes with a 2000 MaH battery that can be charged wirelessly. The Lumia 820 is nearly identical to the 920 device except for a smaller display, 4.3 inches compared to 4.5 inches and a slightly smaller battery.
