Head of the Nuclear Agriculture Research Center of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) Ebrahim Maqiseh said the center's researchers are working on a plan which enables them to measure soil erosion in riversides using nuclear technology.
“The studies, for a three-year-long period, are being carried out near Karaj River,” said Maqiseh, Iranian students' news agency reported.
One of the usages of the nuclear technology is estimating erosion of soil and its sedimentation in rivers' bedrock.
The study covers healthy soil as a reference, and investigates eroded soil as well. The volume of caesium-137 and Lead-210 is the base of examinations in the project.
