ŠKODA offers a fantastic service for owners of historic ŠKODA vehicles. Proud owners of ŠKODA classics are able to obtain the certificate for their vehicle from the ŠKODA company archives in Mladá Boleslav. Included in the ‘automotive birth certificate’, there is information on both the history and all archived data of the specific vehicle. Owners of classic cars have a very special relationship with their showpiece. And they are particularly interested in the history of their model. What equipment did the vehicle have upon delivery? What colour? In which factory was it built? Answers to these and other questions can be found in certificates from the manufacturer. Those interested can contact the company ŠKODA archive in Mladá Boleslav directly. The archive draws on the vast inventory of historic carriages and motor books for research. For example, chassis numbers and engine markings can be identified, and often also the original colour of the vehicle upon delivery and even the name of the first owner. Each certificate receives a serial number, is signed by the head archivist and is issued in the name of the applicant. Issuing a complete certificate costs 1,210 CZK (approx. 47 EUR/40 GBP). Should any details be missing, there is a reduced price of 968 CZK (37 EUR/32 GBP). For selected vehicles such as exhibits, there is the possibility of obtaining copies of available archive documents as required. The price is then 2,420 CZK (93 EUR/80 GBP). In addition to brochures, price lists, photographs, manuals, literature and technical documents, there are also original car books in the holdings of the collection. These books contain valuable information on the vehicles constructed by the brand. The ŠKODA company archive is one of the most comprehensive archives of its kind. As a part of the ŠKODA museum, the archive is set in the 100 year-old, former SKODA production facilities in Mladá Boleslav. In addition to the brochures, photographs, and vehicle and engine books, there are also many more materials to be found in the ŠKODA company archives, such as catalogues, press releases, contracts, for example, between Laurin and Klement, the founding fathers of the automobile manufacturer, as well as important correspondence and personal documents from significant, senior employees. By the end of 2012, the ŠKODA museum had been extensively modernized and completely redesigned as a multimedia showcase for the brand. The experience along the path of Václav Klement takes visitors on a fascinating journey through the history of the company: a diverse, interactive and multimedia adventure. Three areas with 46 historic vehicles, several hundred individual exhibits, as well as contemporary historical films, photos and documents are there for all to see. The whirlwind tour of time, spanning almost 118 years, is represented by cars, films, documents and witnesses. The modern exhibition area is set out over 1,800 m2 in the historic manufacturing halls.
