Detroiter Spencer Abbott spotted a couple of Euro Fords out cruising the boulevards of suburban Detroit this weekend. Like a good Autoweek reader, he snapped a few photos as soon as it could be done safely. The C-Max can be easily explained, as Ford plans to start selling the little people mover stateside this fall. The right-hand-drive Mondeo Estate is a little harder to figure out. Is it being tested for the Canadian market? Is it some kind of a development mule? The weird fuel-filler block-off and the blunderbuss tailpipe say “this is definitely, 100 percent, a development mule for the new Ford Nucleon.” That theory is further bolstered by the Geiger counter mounted on the roof. However, the ID number on both the front and rear fenders starts with NG, and there might be a natural-gas filler below the rear bumper. Perhaps the natural-gas hypothesis is a little more reasonable.
