Two new Porsche models - Boxster GTS and Cayman GTS - have arrived at the Porsche Centre Bahrain, Behbehani Brothers.
With powerful, uprated engines, the new models also feature the ‘Porsche Active Suspension Management’ (PASM) system as standard – the addition further building upon Porsche’s legacy of sports car excellence, a statement said.
As the most dynamic form of Porsche models, the extension of the GTS principle sees the Boxster and Cayman raise the standard for superior top-end performance in their respective segments, it said.
Neil Harris, sales manager, said: “The Boxster GTS and Cayman GTS now represent an extension of a very special type in the Porsche bloodline. Standing for ‘Gran Turismo Sport’, Porsche continues to build on its tradition of developing authentic sports cars for both the race track and everyday use with these latest, ground-breaking models.”
In the new GTS models, Porsche has employed the two strongest engines to be used in a production Boxster or Cayman, the statement said.
The flat six-cylinder boxers are based on the 3.4-litre engines of the Boxster S and Cayman S. They deliver 15 hp more power, meaning the Boxster GTS now has an output of 330 hp, while the Cayman GTS delivers 340 hp. Nominal torque has also been increased by ten Newton metres – ideal for powerful gear transitions during acceleration, it said.
Both mid-engine sports cars are equipped with the sport chrono package as standard. In conjunction with the optional Porsche Doppelkupplungsgetriebe (PDK) and active Sport Plus button, the Boxster GTS sprints from a standstill to 100 km/h in 4.7 seconds, and the Cayman GTS is one-tenth of a second faster.
Another standard GTS component is the sport exhaust system that has been optimally tuned for the new models. It now offers an even greater range of sound with the driver able to activate the sport exhaust system via a switch, or via the Sport Plus button on the centre console.
The new models continue the line of the Panamera GTS and Cayenne GTS with individual traits. The most prominent formal difference is the new front-end with modified spoiler lip, while the new nose is responsible for the 30 mm longer body and highlights the extended lines of the two-seater, said the statement.
The front is further accentuated by smoked bi-xenon headlights with Porsche dynamic light system (PDLS) as standard. The LED daytime running lights with their black surrounds in the outer air inlets radiate a very narrow beam of light and are also smoked, it said.
The appearance is completed by 20-inch wheels in Carrera-S design, which can also be ordered and painted in gloss black. The GTS models are also introducing the 20-inch Turbo wheel from the 911 as a new option for the models.
The interiors of the Boxster GTS and Cayman GTS match the sporty exterior designs in terms of further high-end finishing and dynamic looks. Like other Porsche GTS models, both two-seaters come with standard sports seats and leather interiors enhanced with Alcantara elements. The models also feature a black GTS badge embroidered on the headrests, a tachometer with GTS badge and door sill plates that also display a black badge, the statement said.
Trim strips are available on request, for the first time in black anodised aluminium and a sport design steering wheel is fitted as standard, it said.
