Promo Media balks at violating its rights for airing Egyptian Premier League matches

Board Chairman Promo Media Ihab Talaat regretted violating the company's intellectual property rights by an Egyptian media company.

In statements to MENA, Talaat said the company has previously cautioned media and Facebook pages of airing Football matches of the Egyptian Premier League.

The company has pledged to sue any quarter violating this regulations which were stipulated in the company's contract with the Egyptian Premier League.

On Friday, Cleopatra Media company lodged a complaint with the head of the audio-visual media industry chamber, Mohamed el Amin, against Promo Media, and Presentation advertising agencies.

Cleopatra Media said that the two agencies filed a misdemeanor lawsuit against its legal representative Mohamed Abu el Enin accusing the company of violating intellectual property rights of the Egyptian Premier League 2015/2016 by broadcasting some goals via a sports program aired on Sada el Balad channels.

The company said that the broadcasting of the goals for the purpose of criticism, discussion or covering important current events is a guaranteed right under articles 171 and 172 of the Egyptian Intellectual Property Law No. 82 of 2002.
