Abu Dhabi - Arabstoday
All educational institutions in Abu Dhabi will undergo a dedicated auditing process, starting with public and private schools in October, a senior official from the Abu Dhabi Education Council (Adec) said on Tuesday. \"For the next six months, we will begin the process of registering schools for this initiative, which aims to ensure that all school buildings meet the environment, health and safety (EHS) requirements set by Adec,\" said Eng Khalid Al Ansari, the division manager of school services in the council. He spoke on the sidelines of Adec\'s first EHS annual gathering and Education Sector EHSMS Requirements Launching Ceremony yesterday. \"As part of the process, schools will conduct internal EHS audits and submit a report to us once they are sure they have met Adec\'s standards. Trained auditors from the council will then be dispatched to the school to conduct their own inspections,\" Al Ansari said. \"To ensure that schools will be ready when the inspection process formally begins in October, we are selecting one representative from each institution to receive training through various workshops in the upcoming months,\" he added. The Adec EHS system requirements were accredited by the Abu Dhabi Environment, Health and Safety centre, as well as by the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH-UK), a chartered body for health and safety professionals, to provide professional health and safety training courses.
