More than a quarter of Bahrain’s schools joined the Globe international programme on the environment with 54 public schools and 5 private ones taking part, Education Minister Dr. Majid bin Ali Al Nuaimi revealed. He said around 3000 male and female students benefited from the programme which helps shape environmental wareness and boost creativity potentials by innovating means of solving environmental problems. “The programme also helps students apply what they study at school like geography, physics and sciences,” he added, pointing out that the ministry had set up a permanent headquarter for The Globe Centre and outfitted it with modern and specialised equipment which are not available in the Arab world and had been brought from the USA. He also explained that the centre provides a platform for students and teachers to train and acquire skills in producing alternative energy and study Earth sciences through special programmes.
