Cairo - MENA
Egypt’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Higher Education Hossam Eisa said he did not request arrest powers to officers to administrative security personnel in universities. In an interview with Al Hayat TV Channel on Saturday, Eisa said that the education minister under former president Mohamed Morsi was the one who requested arrest powers to the administrative security personnel in universities. He underlined that Egypt’s universities are independent and that they are the only entities that can regulate the educational process. He pointed out that violence in universities is part of a plot to undermine the state by staging protests. Meantime, he denied claims saying that there are attempts to militarize the state after the June 30 uprising.
