Maintenance work projects are being carried out in various schools affiliated to the Ministry of Education across the UAE. Engineer Hassan Mohammad Al Marzouqi, head of the maintenance department at the ministry, said all these projects are carried out by the Ministry of Public Works through contracting companies. He said all schools will be ready before the beginning of the forthcoming school year. He also added that the Ministry of Education cooperated with the Ministry of Public Works in changing the schools\' window air conditioners into split units. Article continues below Security devices It also set up water coolers in 50 schools in Sharjah, Ras Al Khaimah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain and Fujairah. It also operated security devices in 66 schools in the same emirates and started three projects for improving electricity networks. He also said multipurpose playing fields were being prepared in 22 schools. Al Marzouqi said the maintenance works included 40 schools in seven educational districts: seven schools in Dubai, six in Sharjah in addition to the Sharjah educational office\'s seven schools, five schools in Ajman, four in Umm Al Quwain, four schools in Fujairah, and seven in Ras Al Khaimah. He said maintenance works differed from one school to the next, but they all entailed civil engineering works, electricity, painting, upgrading lab facilities, maintaining and fixing dilapidated fences and constructing toilets for people with special needs. Four projects are being carried out for the 2011 academic year, which include the construction of Al Nawaf Nursery in Sharjah, Al Noman Bin Mugrin School for Boys in Fujairah, among others.
