Abu Dhabi - Arabstoday
The first public lib-rary has appeared on the Oasis City\'s horizon with the opening of a facility with more than 30,000 books and other sources at Al Ain Mall. The Abu Dhabi Tourism and Culture Authority on Wednesday opened the library service saying it was now open to readers of all ages, disciplines, learning abilities and research interests. The library, which has met a longstanding demand of nearby residents, has been designed as a public library with material covering general knowledge, social sciences, languages, pure and applied sciences, arts, literature and history. The library also includes a section devoted to children and young people as well as a section for Arabic and foreign magazines and newspapers. The project is a part of the authority\'s National Library efforts to develop and expand its activities in Abu Dhabi emirate, said an official of the authority. Juma Abdullah Al Qubaisi, deputy director general of the National Library, said his organisation was responding to readers\' needs by establishing new branches in various areas and providing services to all ages and educational levels.
