Qatar Faculty of Islamic Studies (QFIS) has announced the launch of a new diploma programme entitled \"The Public Policy in Islam\". The programme will start in the next academic semester. A statement on the institution\'s website said, \"The Public Policy in Islam Program of the Qatar Faculty of Islamic Studies is proud to offer a diploma programme in public policy in Islam. After three successful years of offering the Master of Public Policy in Islam, we have received repeated requests to design a diploma that will meet the needs of professionals interested in studying public policy in Islam in a shorter period with the possibility of specialization\". QFIS Dean Dr. Hatem al-Karnashawi signed an agreement on this regard with director of Wqaf Trusts department Mohamed Lahdan al-Mohannadi in the presence of Minister of Awqaf(endowments) and Islamic Affairs HE Ghaith bin Mubarak Al-Kuwari and Qatar Foundation chairman dr. Fathi Saeed . According to the agreement, seven scholarships will be offered to students annually. HE the Minister said that the agreement represents a qualitative leap in Waqf work in the country, the region and the world. \"Qatar will become a beacon of Waqf all over the world,\" he said. For his part, Al-Karnasahawi said that a committee will be formed to examine the admission process. The dean added that the agreement will see a cooperation between the two institutions in the field of research by hosting specialists in that field. He expects that the number of students that will be taken into the program will be between 12 and 15. As for the scholarship, Mohannadi said that they are not specific to Qatari students. He highlighted the Waqf sector in the state of Qatar is in need of specialists in the field in light of the developments it is witnessing.
