Royal Police Academy (RPA), in cooperation with the Bahrain Institute for Political Development and in the presence of the RPA's Commander, Staff Colonel Shaikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, today held a seminar entitled "Human rights between national sovereignty and globalization" on the occasion of the International Day of Human Rights, which falls on 10 December. The seminar aimed to disseminate and support the culture of human rights and to raise awareness on national sovereignty and cultural specificity. The speakers tackled a number of themes, including the creation of a positive environment for the dissemination of human rights culture, international law provisions concerning human rights agreements, international and regional human rights organizations and the commitment of the Kingdom of Bahrain at the international level in this area. Professor of Political Science Department at the UAE University of Al-Ein, Dr. Mariam Lootah, noted that human rights is recognized by Islam as a form of social equality. Professor of Political Science Department at the Egyptian Helwan University, Dr. Muhammad Abu Amoud, spoke about the development of the concept of human rights to include personal rights and homeland development rights, pointing out to the Kingdom of Bahrain's achievements in the field of human rights that have caught the eye of the world.
