Yemeni Minister of Higher Education Yahya Al-Shuaibi announced his resignation, to be the first minister to resign from the reconciliation government. Al-Shuaibi said in a statement on his Facebook page, in response to Yemeni students abroad asking him to solve their problems, that he had left the country and the ministry and that they should communicate with his deputy Dr. Mohammad Taher. He underlined that he is not in charge of the ministry anymore and that he had cleared his responsibility over a month ago. He explained that the most important reasons for his resignation are the current circumstance in Yemen, the regime and the reconciliation government, and the conflicts and differences "which may lead the country into the abyss", he said. Local media quoted an official at the ministry as saying that Al-Shuaibi's resignation came as a result of the emergence of many problems related to universities and the way of scholarships for Yemeni students to study abroad as well as the accumulated unsolved problems in the ministry.
