Education in Singapore

About 82 percent of Singaporean parents will consider sending their children to overseas universities, according to the results of a survey released on Wednesday.
The survey by HSBC, which covered 4,500 parents from 15 countries, including 309 from Singapore, showed that parents cited independence, international work experience and confidence as key benefits of studying abroad, local broadcaster Channel NewsAsia said.
Fifty-one percent of Singaporean parents ranked the United States as among the top three overseas destinations to send their children for university education. Britain came in second at 38 percent, while 27 percent ranked Germany as one of the top three.
About 75 percent of Singaporeans surveyed agreed that the quality of education in Singapore is better than in other countries.
However, Singapore was also the second most expensive option for university studies among the 15 destinations surveyed, with average annual costs of over 39,000 U.S. dollars for international undergraduate students.
