The Arab League (AL) has underlined the need for concerted efforts to improve the quality and accessibility of education systems in the Arab countries, head of the Education Department at the Arab League Magda Zaki said.
Speaking at a seminar themed "Education: seed for peace", she said that introducing the concepts of tolerance and peaceful coexistence to the curriculums was of a great importance.
She also asserted the need for well-trained teachers who can convey such concepts.
The AL has prepared an indicative framework for teacher performance standards and a plan for developing education in the Arab world, Zaki said.
She highlighted the importance of encouraging and backing civil society organizations, which aim at developing education.
