Al Azhar Grand Imam Ahmed el Tayyeb on Monday stressed the top Sunni teaching institution's support for Chadian students to qualify them to spread the moderate teachings of Islam.
Tayyeb made the pledge during his meeting with Chadian Higher Education Minister Thaisso Makaye.
The meeting discussed ways of boosting ties between Al Azhar and Chad in all religious, educational and cultural fields.
The grand imam decided to increase the scholarships provided for the Chadian students to 30 in the Sharia and scientific specializations.
