Cairo police chief Ali el-Demerdash said Saturday that a plan to secure schools has come into effect as a new academic year starts in Egypt today.
In statements to MENA, Demerdash said female police have been deployed for the first time to protect girls against harassment.
He said the Interior Ministry will be firm in dealing with attempts by street vendors to spread in streets near schools.
