Gaza - WAM
The Emirates Red Crescent, ERC, in the Gaza Strip has begun distributing school uniforms to underprivileged students attending UNRWA schools in Gaza at the start of the new school year.
Emad Abu al-Laban, Director of the ERC Office in Gaza, who is overseeing the distribution of uniforms, said the project seeks to assist disadvantaged residents of Gaza who are facing economic difficulties.
Abu al-Laban added that the project, which has been organised in cooperation with UNRWA, has so far distributed 5,000 uniforms to female students as part of efforts to alleviate some of the financial burdens of their families.
The ERC is eager to provide assistance to as many people as possible, adding that the organisation carries out a number of other projects with the help of Gaza charities, noted Abu al-Laban.
The school principals thanked the ERC for their efforts and said the school uniforms have been delivered to those students who are most in need, following criteria developed for this purpose.
The students receiving assistance also expressed their thanks to the U.A.E. and the ERC for their humanitarian efforts in Gaza.
