Prime Minister Abdullah Ensour, on Tuesday, met a delegation of presidents of Russian universities taking part in the Jordanian-Russian forum for university presidents currently held in Amman.
During the meeting, attended by University of Jordan president Khleif Tarawneh, Ensour reviewed Jordan's achievements in the field of education and higher education, saying it was a matter of pride.
The literacy rate in Jordan was about half a percent a hundred years ago, while it currently tops the Arab countries in the indicators of education and illiteracy eradication, he pointed out.
Ensour said Jordan's real asset is in education and human resources that had contributed to building the country and the renaissance being witnessed in many Arab countries. He also said Jordan is the first among Arab countries in the field of medical tourism due to the reputation of its medical sector and quality health services. Deputy Head of the Russian Federal Agency for International Cooperation and the head of the delegation, Larissa Efremova, praised the efforts of the government to improve human resources and pointed to the importance of finding solutions to the issue of certificates between the two countries.
