Sheikha Lubna bint Khalid Al Qasimi, Minister of International Cooperation and Development, MICAD, and Laila Bukhari, Secretary of State at the Norwegian Prime Minister's office and her accompanying delegation, have discussed ways to enhance cooperation and partnership relations between the UAE and Norway in various education issues.
Sheikha Lubna highlighted the UAE's keenness to strengthen and promote relations with Norway and the UAE's commitment to supporting education issues for its important role in promoting development and contribute to poverty ratios reduction in developing countries.
The Minister of International Cooperation and Development noted that education represents an important part of development and humanitarian aid provided by the United Arab Emirates, as the UAE has contributed with nearly Dh 2 billion between 2004 and 2014 to support special education programmes.
Bukhari presented her government's plan to combat violence and extremism, which require extensive international cooperation to prevent the spread of the phenomenon globally.
The meeting was attended by Hazza Al Qahtani, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of International Cooperation and Development, Najla Al Kaabi, Assistant Under-Secretary of MICAD, and Sten Anders Berge, Ambassador of Norway.
