More than 200 universities from 20 different countries are taking part in the 18th Global Higher Education Exhibition (Ghedex), which started on Tuesday at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre.
Some of the countries participating in the events include United States, United Kingdom, France, Australia, New Zealand, Qatar, India and the Turkish Republic of North Cyprus.
An official from Education Malaysia told the Times of Oman, “Oman and all of the Middle East is a target market for us because every year a huge number of these students go abroad to study, some also come to Malaysia and we want to keep that number growing.”
The 16th Omanisation Career Fair (OCF) is featuring 50 companies in Oman including the Public Authority for Manoower Register (PAMR), Al Raffd Fund, Oman Shipping Company, Ministry of Manpower and others.
Anamika, a visitor who is looking for an undergrad school said, “I have come here with big hopes, I can’t make my mind on if I want to study abroad or in Oman. I hope some of the education officials here will help me make a decision, I am also looking for a scholarship.
The Ministry of Higher Education (MoHE) in Oman will conduct a presentation on external scholarship schemes at the undergraduate and postgraduate level targeting representatives from overseas universities and Higher Education service providers at Ghedex.
