Preparations are well underway at the Ministry of Education (MOE) to conduct the Trends in International Mathematics and Science Study (TIMSS) Examinations for primary and intermediate stage students to be held in April 2015.
The Undersecretary for Education and Curricula Affairs Dr. Abdullah Yusuf Al-Mutawa' chaired a meeting in his office at the Ministry premises and explored with the ad-hoc committee on international aptitude tests for mathematics and science teachers in order to train them under direct supervision of School Performance Partners and Educational Supervision Specialists and benefiting from the National Numeric Strategy and Curricula Scheme.
The Ministry said that "The Kingdom of Bahrain partook in this study in the years 2003 and 2007 with grade eight students. In 2011, grade four students participated besides eight graders. The Ministry's participation was aimed to benefit from simulation, external expert appraisal to gauge the performance of Bahraini students compared with peers in other countries regarding both course subjects as essential pillars of academic and cultural formation of students.
