RasGas Company Limited (RasGas), one of the world’s leading liquefied natural gas producers, is on a recruitment drive in the United Kingdom (UK) looking for young and talented Qatari students who would like to make a career in the dynamic world of natural gas.
The company took part in several recruitment driven initiatives in the UK between the 18th and 28th February 2015, Rasgas said in a press release.
As part of the programme, RasGas participated in the 8th Annual Career Fair for Qatari students in the UK in London on 20th and 21st February. Established in 2007, the fair has attracted scores of Qatari students over the years. The 2015 fair attracted more than 200 undergraduate and postgraduate students.
The 2015 fair therefore provides RasGas with a platform to introduce students to a wide array of career opportunities, scholarships and internship programmes on offer at RasGas and other prominent Qatari organizations and institutions.
"RasGas is delighted to take part in the UK Career Fair for the eighth year in a row. The event provides a platform to not only connect with local students studying abroad but also works to attract the highest caliber of engineering graduates for scholarships at RasGas. Students in non-engineering majors were introduced to other career options available in different fields and were provided with valuable advice on qualifications and skills," said Abdul Rahman Al-Mannai, Learning and Development Manager at RasGas.
As part of the UK visit, RasGas also met with Qatari students on RasGas’ scholarship programme at six prestigious universities across the UK. The visits provided RasGas with the opportunity to not only follow existing scholars’ progress but network and discuss further programme improvement initiatives with the university professors and deans. There are currently 52 Qatari students enrolled in various university programmes across the UK under RasGas’ scholarship programme.
"This annual UK visit is one of many initiatives we undertake as part of our Qatarization programme and is testament to our commitment to fully support the national development strategy with specific emphasis on nurturing and supporting our national talent, as set out in the Qatar National Vision 2030," he added.
RasGas was one of the first Qatari companies to participate in the UK Career Fair and has recruited countless Qatari students from overseas over the years. Currently, about 36% of its total workforce is made up of Qataris.
