Education Minister Dr Majid bin Ali al-Nuaimi

Marking the World Teachers' Day, which is celebrated on October 5 of every year, Education Minister Dr. Majid Al Nuaimi said the occasion represents an opportunity to pay tribute to the dedicated teachers in Bahrain for their key role in the building and development process.
He pointed out that the committee in charge of developing the teachers cadre had already submitted its report which is the result of cooperation with specialists and experts to optimise professional improvement programmes for teachers in a practical way that guarantees balance between professional development and promotion.
The minister added that the Education Ministry is coordinating with the Civil Service Bureau to boost the teachers' promotion opportunities in tune with their role in developing education and bettering the schools' performance. He described celebrating the World Teachers' Day as an opportunity to further foster the teachers' role and status.
He also stressed that the inauguration of Bahrain Teachers College by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister, was a step into a new phase of educational development to groom teachers and provide them with high quality training.
The Education Minister emphasised the role of the teacher as a key player in educational reform. Yet, he said, the teacher alone can not bring about "a miracle" in terms of quality and effective education as there are other indispensable factors like school leadership and environment, academic curricula, evaluation, guidance, accountability and motivation, being integral parts of the ongoing efforts to upgrade the educational output.
