Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning Minister Essam bin Abdulla Khalaf today received the team in charge of designing and carrying out the project of Her Highness Shaikha Moza bint Hamad Al-Khalifa School.
Undersecretary for Works Affairs Ahmed Abdulaziz Al-Khayyat, Assistant Undersecretary for Construction Projects and Maintenance Shaikh Misha’al bin Mohammed Al-Khalifa and Construction Projects Director Mariam Abdulla Amine attended the meeting.
The project of HH Shaikha Moza bint Hamad Al-Khalifa School, which will be built on a land covering 50,000 square metres, won the award of the best smart school project, on the sidelines of the 3rd Sustainable Smart Cities Conference.
The state-of-the-art school project, set to cost BD11 million, will be funded through the GCC Development Programme in support of the Kingdom of Bahrain.
HH Shaikha Moza bint Hamad Al-Khalifa School will be the first world-standard green educational establishment of its kind in the Kingdom of Bahrain, as well as the largest in terms of capacity and overall cost.
With a constructed area of 26,500 square metres, the school will include four educational buildings featuring 48 classrooms, with a capacity of 1440 students.
It will include multi-purpose labs for sciences, information technologies, a state-of-the-art library and other buildings, including a sport hall.
