Iran and Turkey have agreed to establish a joint non-profit university by September this year, Press TV reported Sunday. Iranian Deputy Minister of Science, Research and Technology for International Affairs, Arsalan Qorbani, was quoted as saying that the decision to establish the university was made by Iran in July 2011. Based on an agreement reached in a meeting between Iran\'s Minister of Science, Research and Technology Kamran Daneshjoo and President of Turkey\'s Council of Higher Education Yusuf Ziya Ozcan in July 2011, Iran\'s Tabriz University and Turkey\'s Yuzuncu Yil University were assigned to act as the representatives of the two countries to implement the plan, said Qorbani, according to Press TV. The joint university will have two branches, one in the Iranian northwestern city of Tabriz and the other in the Turkish eastern city of Van and will offer majors in all levels of education, particularly at the postgraduate level, he added.
