The latest university rankings from The Guardian have rated LSE as the best university in London for the third year in a row. The Guardian University Guide 2014, which focuses predominantly on student experience and teaching, has ranked LSE as the third best UK university overall, behind Oxford and Cambridge. LSE has been in the top five of the Guardian’s league tables for the past three years. The Guide rates LSE particularly highly for graduate career prospects, staff-to-student ratio and spending per student. In terms of subjects, Guide rates the School as the best place in the UK to study philosophy. Professor Craig Calhoun, Director of LSE, said: \"The Guardian’s University Guide league tables are more focused on teaching and the student experience than others, so our continued high ranking is particularly pleasing. As indicated in the Guide, LSE continues to invest significant resources to improve our facilities and the overall student experience, while our graduates continue to have outstanding job prospects and starting salaries. Of course, there is more to a university than what can be captured in a league table, but it is nice to have the hard work of our staff and students recognised.”
