Three Chinese speaking films were shown Friday at the 10th International Association of Women in Radio and Television (IAWRT) film festival here for celebrating the International Women's Day. "Such a Girl Like Me" ,the short fiction directed by Hong Kong filmmaker Man Uen Ching based on Hong Kong novelist Xixi's homonymic novel, was presented at the festival. Its heroine was a mortician who did make-up for the dead and had to hide the fact from her boy friend. Also presented was the documentary"My fancy high heels"from Taiwan director Ho Chao-Ti which rigorously traced the journey of a pair of branded high-heeled shoes, and looked at the dreams of the people involved. Another Taiwanese documentary "Voices of Orchid Island" by filmmaker Hu Taili was also shown. During the three-day-festival, female filmmakers around the world displayed and explored women's life and dilemma through films. This film festival also provided an unique platform for students, practitioners and film enthusiasts to interact with each other. IAWRT is a global organization of professional women working in electronic media. Since 2004, the India Chapter holds the IAWRT women's film Festival around International Women's Day each year.
