Labour and Social Development Minister, and the Board of Directors Chairman of the Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA), Jameel bin Mohammed Ali Humaidan, received here the Maldives President’s Special Envoy and, the Minister of Gender and Family, Aminath Zeneesha Shaheed Zaki, who is currently on a visit to the kingdom.
The minister discussed with the Maldives President’s Special Envoy bilateral relations and ways to bolster them, especially in the fields of social care, family and equal opportunities between men and women.
They also discussed the two countries’ experiences, and ways of availing of them.
Humaidan informed the Maldives minister about the kingdom’s experience in family development projects, women empowerment, social care projects targeting the elderly and children, the Abused Women’s Shelter, as well as programmes aimed at increasing Bahraini families’ income to empower them economically and socially.
The minister also highlighted the tremendous efforts exerted by the Supreme Council for Women (SCW), led by Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Wife of HM the King and SCW President, to advance and empower Bahraini women in various sectors.
He stressed that Bahrain’s experience in the field of social development for the Bahraini family is among the most distinguished in the region, expressing hope that Bahrain and the Maldives will enhance the exchange of technical expertise in this regard.
The Maldives official carried many field visits to centres affiliates with the Ministry of Labour and Social Development and was informed about the diversified services they provide for the beneficiaries, including health, psychological and social care, in addition to legal advice and entertainment programmes.
The Maldives President’s Special Envoy expressed admiration for Bahrain’s social care experience, particularly day care centres for the elderly.
She affirmed her country’s keenness on enhancing fruitful cooperation with Bahrain in all fields, in line with the two countries’ leaderships’ directives.
She praised Bahrain’s progress at the economic and social levels, expressing her country’s interest in taking advantage of the successful experiences implemented by the kingdom in the fields of social development and women empowerment.
