Japan's Shinzo Abe administration should not seek to re-examine a 1993 apology Tokyo made to Korean and other Asian women forced to serve as sex slaves for Japanese troops during World War II, a senior U.S. congressman said Wednesday. Rep. Mike Honda (D-CA), a tireless champion of human rights and justice for the victims, described the Abe government's reported move to revisit the Kono Statement as a "mistake."    Then-Chief Cabinet Secretary Yohei Kono issued the statement for the first time acknowledging the Japanese military was at least indirectly involved in coercing women into sexual servitude.
