The committee in charge of HRH Princess Sabeeka World Award for Women Empowerment today held a preparatory work meeting.
United Nations (UN) Under-Secretary-General and Executive Director of Entity for Gender Equality and Empowerment of Women (UN Women), Ms. Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka chaired the session.
The meeting was also attended by Supreme Council for Women (SCW) Secretary-General Hala Al-Ansari, Shaikha Haya bint Rashid Al-Khalifa and other members.
The panel announced that participation in the award would officially start in March, pointing out that an electronic website would be launched to ensure a large number of participants in the three categories of the award.
Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka stressed the UN keenness on promoting the award internationally underlining the importance of prize criteria.
The award , she said, highlights Bahrain’s rich women’ empowerment practices to the world, stressing keenness on working with the Supreme Council for Women to promote the prize in international arena.
