H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women's Union, Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation and Chairwoman of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, today received the wife of Polish President Bronislaw Komorowski, Anna Dembowska, at Al Bahar Palace. Sheikha Fatima and Ms. Dembowska exchanged views on various issues of concern to women and discussed ways to enhance cooperation between women's institutions in the two countries. During the meeting, Ms. Dembowska was briefed on the efforts exerted by the U.A.E., the General Women's Union, the Family Development Foundation and the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood in the fields of women's issues, motherhood and childhood, as well as the interest in the exchange of knowledge and technology programmes for the advancement of women's education, affording them more opportunities to serve the community. Sheikha Fatima said that the U.A.E.'s women play an active role in various areas of National Action through their positive contributions in economic, social and cultural changes taking place in the state. For her part, the wife of the Polish President praised the role played by Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak for the advancement of U.A.E. women and her initiatives for child care, protection of young people and the dissemination of education and culture in the U.A.E. and abroad. She commended the position of U.A.E. women, which has been achieved thanks to Sheikha Fatima's insistence and seriousness in work in order to access top positions in various fields. Sheikha Fatima hosted a banquet in honour of the wife of the Polish President, which was attended by Sheikha Shamsa bin Hamdan bin Mohammed Al Nahyan, wife of the Ruler's Representative in the Western Region, H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Shaikha Khawla bint Ahmed al-Khalifa Al-Suwaidi, wife of Shaikh Tahnoon bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Presidential Flight, Sheikha Mariam bint Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Sheikha Shamsa bint Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Dr. Maytha bint Salem Al Shamsi, Minister of State, Reem bint Ib rahim Al Hashemi, Minister of State, along with a number of women leaders in the state.
