The House of Representatives' Foreign Affairs, Defense and National Security Committee's Chairman, Sawsan Taqawi, affirmed the resolution of the establishment of a unified GCC military command is the most important one reached by the 34th GCC summit, which holds a strategic dimension amid the increasing foreign threats to the Gulf. Strengthening Gulf security and stability and building a unified military system that aims to achieve collective security is a joint demand of the Gulf countries, she added. She also praised the establishment of the Gulf police that will enhance Gulf security, broaden security cooperation and fight terrorism. She urged government agencies concerned to implement the GCC Summit's resolutions and work on implementing important Gulf projects, including Gulf customs union, Gulf unified currency, commercial trade, security and counter-terrorism, human rights, railway, environment, education and health. Taqawi congratulated GCC Secretary-General Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al-Zayani on renewing his appointment for a new term.
