The UAE Attorney General, Mr. Salim Saeed Kubaish, announced today that as part of ongoing investigations carried out by the Office of the Public Prosecution into the members of the secret organisation who are accused of establishing and managing an organisation that aims to usurp power in the UAE, to oppose the basic principles of the UAE system, and to disrupt social harmony and peace, the Public Prosecution has begun investigation of female leaders of what is called the Women's Branch of the organisation. This branch is an essential part of the overall structure of this secret organisation, he said. Kubaish said that the women under suspicion have been summoned and are being questioned with full respect for the right to privacy, the norms and the traditions of UAE society, in line with the rules and principles of Sharia, in the proceedings of the investigation. He stressed that "all rights of the above-mentioned women are guaranteed during the investigation stage, without prejudice to justice and equality of all before the law. The law does not differentiate between people on the basis of gender," he added. "Men and women are equal before the law whenever the judiciary has determined that they have committed a crime punishable by law."
