Uganda has arrested a Belgian citizen of Rwandan origin wanted by a court in his adopted homeland for involvement in the 1994 genocide, police said Friday. Thaddee Kwitonda, 51, was detained in Kampala on Thursday after police tracked his movements for several months, police spokesman Asuman Mugenyi told AFP. \"We had been trailing him since March because we had information that he was here, and that he had changed his name and was shifting his addresses here,\" Mugenyi said. Kwitonda, who worked as a deputy secretary general of the central bank in Rwanda prior to the genocide, is wanted by a court in Belgium on charges relating to his alleged participation in the killings, Mugenyi said. \"We are still working on what to do with him. It is Belgium that has issued the warrant for him and not Rwanda,\" Mugenyi said. Kwitonda had registered a solar energy company in Uganda and regularly visited the country, Mugenyi said.
