U.S. first lady Michelle Obama, accompanied by her two daughters and mother, arrived in China on Thursday for a week-long trip that is expected to focus on education and people-to-people exchanges. It marked the third foreign solo trip for Obama, with White House officials saying the first lady is expected to steer clear of sensitive issues with China, such as human rights and foreign policy. In Beijing on Friday, Obama is scheduled to stroll inside the Forbidden City with Peng Liyun, the wife of Chinese President Xi Jinping. Peng will also host a private dinner with Obama later in the day.
