The 19-year-old daughter of a Chilean consul in the west Venezuelan city of Maracaibo has been gunned downed by local police at a road checkpoint. The woman was reportedly shot after she ignored a command to stop, believing the police to be robbers, according to her father. Venezuela’s Prosecutor General said in a statement that the eleven police officers involved in the shooting are now under investigation, while the country’s judicial police chief condemned the shooting and what he called “bad police practices.
